Three Pages You'll Check After Every Matchday
Most of what you need to run an IPL club day to day lives on three ClubsHub pages: the league table, the fixtures page, and the news feed. New users tend to glance at all three and move on. Experienced captains use them as planning tools. Here's how to read each one properly — this guide merges the three separate how-tos this site used to have.
The League Table: It's Not Just About Points
The table tells you where you stand and why. Once you've been in the IPL a season or two you check it instinctively after every round — because it's not just your position, it's the gap. Three points behind with a game in hand is very different from three points behind with two games left.
Reading the columns
- P — Played. Context for comparing positions. Third with 18 played, above a team on 15, is a more precarious lead than it looks.
- W / D / L. The foundation — three for a win, one for a draw. If your win count is lower than everyone around you, you're hanging on via draws, which rarely wins anything.
- GF / GA. More revealing than the wins column. 40 goals in 20 games is a very different team from 20; conceding 8 is a very different story from conceding 35.
- GD — Goal difference. GF minus GA. This has decided IPL title races. Teams that win 3-0 rather than 1-0 are quietly banking GD even when the points feel the same.
- Pts. (Wins × 3) + Draws. The column that determines your position.
Tiebreakers
Level on points: goal difference first, then goals scored. Worth understanding in the final weeks of a tight season — sometimes a big win is more valuable than a safe 1-0, even though it's the same three points on paper.
Using it to plan
Check it with purpose. Look at the teams directly above and below you, work out how many points they need from their remaining games if things go badly, know who still has a game in hand. Managers who use the table as a planning tool tend to climb it.
The Fixtures Page: Your Season, Match by Match
Upcoming fixtures. Look two or three games ahead, not just the next one. A tough run coming up is when you decide whether to be conservative with rotation or ride the same XI.
Completed results and match details. The score is there, but click through to the full match page for player ratings, scorers and assists. Beaten 4-1? The detail tells you whether it was one player's nightmare or a structural problem across the team — and that changes how you respond in the week that follows.
Researching opponents. Before a big match, check their recent fixtures. Coming off a heavy loss? Three games in four days before they face you? A team on four straight wins plays with momentum; one that's drawn three might be tactically conservative right now. You want to know going in, not guess.
Fixture congestion. When the schedule bunches — two or three games in a week — rotation and recovery decisions matter as much as tactics. The fixtures page is where you see the congestion coming before it's a crisis.
The News Feed: The League's Story Between Matchdays
The news section is where the IPL's story gets told between rounds — results, fixtures, awards, rule changes, team updates. For experienced managers it's one of the first checks after each matchday.
What you'll see
- Match results. Post-match summaries with score, key stats and standout performances — context for why the table looks the way it does.
- Fixture announcements. Upcoming and rescheduled games, often with context on what's at stake.
- Player awards. Player of the Week and top performers. If it's someone in your squad, that's a morale note and a season-long tracking point — consistent recognition usually shows in the stats too.
- League announcements. Rules and format changes. A change to how cup rounds work or to eligibility is easy to miss if you're not checking regularly, and it can affect your planning significantly.
Using it to stay competitive
Before facing a team you haven't played in a while, the news gives you the current picture — significant changes, a result that'll make them overconfident or desperate. It doesn't predict the match, but the clubs that pay attention go in better informed, and in the IPL information is what turns preparation into advantage.
